North Cork Fine Gael Councillor John Paul O’Shea has welcomed Irish Water’s recent approval for almost 15km of watermain rehabilitation across North Cork.

In the most recent round of Asset Needs Brief approvals, Cllr. O’Shea said Cork County Council had successfully secured 14.38km of mains rehabilitation, in the following areas:

  • Curryglass,Dromina
  • Fair Street, Mallow
  • Lisdangan, Clonfert
  • ClonrobinKilbrin
  • Close Road, Castletownroche
  • Doneraile Rising Main
  • Killavullen Reservoir
  • Killavullen National School.

“Irish Water is continually reviewing proposals by Cork County Council for watermains rehabilitation, and this latest tranche of approved works is very welcome,” Cllr. O’Shea said.

“Irish Water’s policy here is that it will recommend rehabilitation on watermains where the burst record exceeds 3km per year. So, all of these areas are in clearly in need of works and I look forward to these works being carried out swiftly and without delay.

“I will continue to work with Cork County Council and Irish Water to ensure that poor quality watermains are repaired or replaced as necessary.”
