O’Shea Welcomes New School Transport Service from Ballyhea to Coláiste Mhuire Buttevant

Cork North West Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea, has warmly welcomed confirmation that a new school transport service will commence from the Ballyhea area to Coláiste Mhuire Secondary School in Buttevant for the upcoming academic year.

The announcement follows confirmation from the Department of Education and Youth (DOEY) that enough eligible pupils from the area had applied and paid for the scheme on time, thereby meeting the criteria for a new dedicated service.

“I am absolutely delighted to confirm that a new school transport route will be established between Ballyhea and Coláiste Mhuire in Buttevant,” Deputy O’Shea said. “This will come as very welcome news to local families who have been seeking clarity and certainty around transport options for their children.”

Deputy O’Shea acknowledged the efforts of all involved in progressing this matter, particularly the parents and guardians who acted promptly to ensure their applications were in order and the Management at Coláiste Mhuire for their continued engagement. “The Department has now commenced the procurement process to secure a driver and vehicle, and once that process is complete, the relevant families will be contacted directly,” he continued.

“This is a great result for the community, and I will continue to work with the Department and all stakeholders to ensure that pupils and their families have fair and consistent access to school transport services”, conclude Deputy O’Shea.
