O’Shea Welcomes Over €117 Million in Farm Payments for Cork as BISS, CRISS, ANC and Young Farmer Supports Begin to Issue

Fine Gael TD for Cork North West, Deputy John Paul O’Shea, has welcomed the commencement of major farm payments under the 2025 BISS, CRISS, ANC and CISYF schemes, describing the funding as “a vital injection of income support for farm families across Cork North West.”

Deputy O’Shea confirmed that payments have now begun to issue, following today’s announcement by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD.

Farmers in Cork are receiving significant levels of support under the schemes, including:

  • €93.86 million under the BISS and CRISS schemes (11,857 Cork farmers paid

  • €19.39 million under the ANC scheme (7,178 Cork farmers paid)

  • €4.15 million under the Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (CISYF) (684 young farmers paid)

This brings the total payments to farmers in Cork to over €117 million so far in 2025.

Deputy John Paul O’Shea said “I warmly welcome the issuing of these payments, which will be felt immediately by farm families throughout Cork North West. The BISS, CRISS and ANC schemes are central to supporting the sustainability and viability of our local farm businesses. Cork farmers are receiving more than €117 million in supports through this payment run alone. This is not only crucial for individual farm incomes but also for the wider rural economy in towns and villages across our constituency.”

Deputy O’Shea also highlighted the importance of the Young Farmers scheme by saying “The CISYF payment is particularly important for young people starting out in agriculture. I’m delighted to see 684 young Cork farmers benefitting from more than €4 million in support. This is essential to ensuring generational renewal in farming and strengthening the future of agriculture here in Cork North West.”

Deputy O’Shea noted that payments may take up to five days to reach farmers’ bank accounts and encouraged anyone with outstanding queries to respond promptly to the Department.

“Anyone who has questions or documentation outstanding should contact the Department as soon as possible to avoid any delay in payment,” he said.
