North Cork Fine Gael Councillor John Paul O’ Shea this week welcomed the announcement by Government to allocate over €2m over 2018 & 2019 to Cork County Council for local rural roads as part of the Community Involvement Scheme.
The Community Involvement Scheme (CIS) encourages a joint approach with groups of local residents and landowners for the restoration of public roads mainly local or cul de sac roads. The Scheme is based on community contributions of 15%.
Of the 49 roads approved Countywide, 24 of these roads will go forward for completion this year (2018) and the remaining 25 roads proceeding next year (2019). 13 of these roads are in the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Area. The roads funded within the District are as follows:

Cork County Council will be in contact with the local contacts made on these roads shortly to make arrangements for receiving the local contribution, so that it can programme the carrying out of the works.
Should applicants on the 2018 list fail to make full payment and/or decide not to avail of the scheme the Council will consider other applications from the countywide list which may facilitate inclusion of some of the schemes from the 2019 Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District list.
