O’Shea selected to contest next General Election for Fine Gael in Cork North West

O’Shea selected to contest next General Election for Fine Gael in Cork North West

North Cork Councillor John Paul O’ Shea has been selected to contest the next General Election for Fine Gael in the constituency of Cork North West. Cllr. O’ Shea was selected alongside current sitting TD & Minister for Agriculture, Food & the Marine Michael Creed.

Speaking at the well attended selection convention which took place in the Wallis Arms Hotel, Millstreet over the weekend, Cllr. O’ Shea said “I am both honoured and privileged to have been nominated as a candidate for Fine Gael at the next General Election. I have been an elected councillor in Cork County Council since May 2009 representing the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District of the Council and that role has given me a great insight into the needs of the people in the area and how we as public representatives can assist our constituents at local level. I am looking forward now to bringing this experience and knowledge to the National stage”.

Cllr. O’ Shea added “The Fine Gael party has a strong track record of electing two TDs in the constituency of Cork North West. Since the formation of the current constituency, the people of Cork North West have put their faith in Fine Gael on several occasions to lead them over that period. We have been well served by previous Dail deputies such as Aine Collins, Gerard Murphy, the late Donal Creed and my good friend and neighbour Frank Crowley. I am confident Minister Creed and I can achieve two seats at the next General Election for Fine Gael and I am now looking forward to meeting the people of the constituency over the coming weeks and asking them to put their faith in me and Fine Gael to lead them over the next Dail term”.

Cllr. O’ Shea concluded by saying “The Fine Gael party’s ambition for Ireland is to build a Republic of Opportunity — supporting you and your family, strengthening your community and building a sustainable future for everyone. The party is focused on protecting our economy and making people’s lives better, particularly hard-pressed working families. I want to make sure the constituency of Cork North West shares in this opportunity and if elected to represent you at the next general election, I will work tirelessly to ensure the people of Cork North West will benefit from this opportunity”.
