Planning permission has been granted for an extension to the Windmill Nursing Home & Retirement Village in Churchtown, according to Cork North West Fine Gael General Election candidate Councillor John Paul O’Shea.
Established in 2004, Windmill Nursing Home is a modern, purpose-built residence registered for 40 residents, providing long- and short-term care, respite, convalescent and post-operative care.
In July, planning permission for the construction of a new two-storey extension to the rear of the existing nursing home, new footpaths and ramps, car park, stormwater soakway, and the retention of the single storey laundry department was sought.
This week Cllr. O’Shea confirmed that planning permission has been approved. “This is very welcome news and will further enhance the already excellent facility in Churchtown. Windmill House Nursing Home & Retirement Village has a well-deserved reputation for top-class care with wonderful staff.
“The two-storey extension will greatly increase the size of the nursing home and will create a significant jobs boost for Churchtown and surrounding areas,” Cllr. O’Shea said.
