North Cork Independent Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea has this week welcomed the approval by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government for a €4.2m investment on upgrading the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Millstreet. Cork County Council is immediately proceeding with designing the upgrade with a view to seeking appropriate tenders in the coming weeks.
Commenting on the announcement of funding, Cllr. O’ Shea said “This is good news for the town of Millstreet. It has been a priority on Cork County Council’s Water Services Investment Programme for a number of years now and this funding will now ensure we have new and improved wastewater systems for the people of the area. Works will include increasing capacity levels within the current plant which in turns allows for new and emerging businesses and individual houses in the town to join the waste water services available in the town. The upgrade will also allow for improved water quality and waste water services in the town. All these measures will benefit Millstreet immensely into the future added Cllr. O’ Shea”.
