Visit of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Ireland
Dec 02, 2025
I was pleased to be present today to welcome President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the First Lady of Ukraine to Dáil Eireann and Ireland on this historic first official visit.
Their presence is a powerful reminder of the deep bond between our countries and of Ireland’s steadfast support for the Ukrainian people as they continue to defend their sovereignty in the face of Russia’s illegal and brutal war.
This visit offers an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Ireland and Ukraine — politically, economically, and socially — including through the inauguration of the Ireland-Ukraine Economic Forum. It is a moment to reaffirm our commitment to supporting Ukraine’s journey toward peace, recovery, and full membership of the European Union.
I also want to acknowledge the extraordinary contribution made by the Ukrainian community who have sought refuge in Ireland since 2022. Their resilience, determination, and cultural vibrancy have enriched communities across the country, and we are proud to stand with them.
I look forward to Ireland continuing to deepen this partnership and to working with Ukraine toward a just and lasting peace.
John Paul
