O’Shea Welcomes Approval of Affordable Housing Scheme in Charleville

O’Shea Welcomes Approval of Affordable Housing Scheme in Charleville

Cork North West Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea has welcomed the approval of a new Affordable Housing Scheme in Charleville, which will see the delivery of 20 new family homes in the town.

Deputy O’Shea said this development represents a significant step forward for housing provision in Charleville and the wider North Cork area, particularly at a time when demand for affordable homes continues to grow.

“This is very positive news for Charleville and the surrounding communities. The delivery of 20 new family homes under an affordable housing scheme will provide real opportunities for individuals and families to get on the property ladder in their own town,” Deputy O’Shea said.

“It has been a long time since we have seen an Affordable Housing Scheme delivered in Charleville, so this approval is particularly welcome. It reflects a renewed focus on supporting homeownership and ensuring that working families have access to secure and reasonably priced housing.”

Deputy O’Shea acknowledged the work of Cork County Council and all stakeholders involved in bringing the scheme to approval stage.

“I want to commend Cork County Council for progressing this scheme and for their continued commitment to increasing housing supply in towns like Charleville. Developments like this are essential in sustaining vibrant rural communities and ensuring balanced regional growth.”

Local Fine Gael Councillor Aileen Browne also welcomed the announcement. “This is a hugely positive development for Charleville. For too long, many young people and families have struggled to find affordable homes in their own community. This scheme will help address that need and give people a real opportunity to stay local and put down roots. I look forward to seeing this project progress and to more housing developments like this in the future,” Cllr. Browne said.

Deputy O’Shea added that he will continue to advocate for further housing investment across North Cork. “I will continue to work to ensure that Charleville and towns across Cork North West receive their fair share of housing developments. We need a steady pipeline of affordable and social housing projects to meet current and future demand.”

Deputy O’Shea concluded by saying he looks forward to seeing construction commence and families moving into their new homes in the near future.
