Community Recognition Funding Announced

Community Recognition Funding Announced – Over €600k for 11 Community Projects in Cork

Sports clubs, community centres, parks, and recreational areas in Cork City & County are set to benefit from funding of €615,818 as part of the latest round of funding from the Community Recognition Fund, Cork North West Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea has said.

Deputy O’Shea said this funding highlights the government’s commitment to support local communities to be more inclusive and resilient.

“I am delighted to see this funding for Cork as part of the Community Recognition Fund. This funding has enabled communities to be more inclusive by improving community facilities and community spaces. Across Cork there will be major investment, supporting a diverse range of projects. Overall, across Ireland we’ll see over €17 million to deliver 212 community projects.

Deputy O’Shea added “In particular, I’m delighted to see funding for The Schoolyard Theatre, Charleville who will get €50,000. Mallow Search and Rescue will also receive €50,000 & Millstreet Community Council will benefit from €50,000 also for their respective projects which will have a huge benefit for our local community.

“I want to congratulate the community groups who have been the driving force behind the successful applications and look forward to seeing the completed projects. Today’s funding allocation is the latest in a long line of initiatives and supports introduced by Fine Gael aimed at making our towns, villages and cities more attractive places to live”.

“This funding will enable our communities to become more inclusive, resilient and sustainable places in which to live and raise a family, to visit and to socialise” concluded Deputy O’Shea.
