The Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke this week launched the Action Plan for Competitiveness and Productivity.

This is a critical government policy which focuses on the economic areas that fall within our domestic sphere of influence.

In light of the rapidly evolving global landscape, it’s imperative that we “control the controllables”, and the Action Plan outlines how we will do that, including supporting home-grown companies to scale, improving supports for research and development, attracting the next wave of FDI, reducing red tape and bureaucracy and providing certainty around energy and infrastructure.

The plan contains 85 actions to enhance our competitiveness and productivity performance, with 26 of these identified as priority actions.

Fine Gael is leading the way on these critical issues for business and workers, and this is our whole-of-government strategic response to the challenges Ireland is facing.
